Pair of Vintage Mid-Century Model 36/401 Cantilever Lounge Chairs by Alvar Aalto
Here is a stunning pair of Alvar Aalto's Model 36/401. The wingback, cantilever design was first introduced in 1933 by Aalto following the popularity of his previous model chair. Some of the stunning details include matching/stamped armrests, spring sprung seat, hand stitching and unique "pass-through" tufting with brass details. A faint "Artek" stamp is present underneath one armrest (pictured). Made in Finland, likely 1970s.
